Press on Nails

finger, nail, hand, arm, fashion accessory, OK, these require a bit more work than the false nails you get in a salon, but they cost a whole lot less. These are the ones you can buy at the drugstore and you simply use the included tube of glue to adhere them to your own nails. I love these for vacation because then I don’t have to worry about my nails and they only stay on about a week so they are ready to come off when I get home. Use them for a wedding or other special event if you don’t want to commit to full-time false nails.

2

Acrylic Nails

finger, nail, hand, fashion accessory, arm, These are the most common type of false nails and are generally offered at just about any nail salon you go to. They are made from a mixture of powder and liquid, which is then formed into a nail shape over your natural nail. Once the acrylics harden, they can be shaped and painted. Acrylics are one of the most affordable choices and only require a fill in every couple of weeks.

UPD:

Acrylic nails have been a staple in the beauty industry for years due to their durability and versatility. Ideal for those who seek length and strength, they can be a blank canvas for intricate nail art or a polished, single-color look. When cared for properly, acrylics can last a long time without chipping or breaking. However, it’s crucial to schedule regular maintenance appointments to prevent lifting or infections. For individuals leading a busy lifestyle but still wishing to flaunt flawless nails, acrylics can be a practical and stylish choice.

3

Gel Nails

white, finger, hand, footwear, nail, Gel nails are applied over length extenders and look similar to nail polish as they go on. After each layer of gel goes on, you must place your hands under a UV light to harden them. Gel nails are similar to acrylics in terms of upkeep, but some reports of skin cancer due to the lights has been reported so use them with caution.

UPD:

Gel manicures have taken the beauty world by storm, offering a long-lasting, glossy finish that's hard to beat. They're a fantastic option if you're after a chip-free solution that stands up well to the rigors of daily life. However, it's key to weigh the pros against potential cons. Regular appointments to maintain the tip-top condition are needed, usually around every two to three weeks. Moreover, be mindful when using UV lights as part of the process; slather on a broad-spectrum sunscreen or use UV-protective gloves as a savvy precaution to keep your skin safe.

4

Silk Nails

nail, finger, nail care, manicure, hand model, This type of false nail is ideal if you have weak nails and are trying to strengthen and grow them. Silk nails are designed to be temporary so you won’t wear them for more than a couple of weeks. They are attached by laying the fabric over your nail and sticking them in place with glue. This type of false nail isn’t a good choice for active women because they won’t last long if they are constantly getting dinged and bashed. These nails are sometimes called wrap nails.

5

Solar Nails

face, hair, eyebrow, black hair, nose, Solar nails are similar to acrylic nails and will need upkeep every couple of weeks. They are also made of powder, but a different kind than acrylics. They are usually applied to clean, buffed natural nails. They are designed to allow you to go without polish so they mimic the look of natural nails with a nice healthy pink glow and white tips.

UPD:

Solar nails offer a refined look with an impressive durability that matches your on-the-go lifestyle. With their glossy, natural appearance, there's no need for constant polish changes, saving you time and effort. Still, routine maintenance is essential to keep them looking their finest. A key benefit to solar nails is that they are less likely to yellow over time compared to traditional acrylics. Ideal for the busy woman, solar nails combine convenience and elegance, helping to maintain a professional and polished image without frequent salon visits.

Sculptured Nails

white, finger, nail, beauty, leg, These are the longest lasting of the false nails and are ideal if you want really long nails. The material is very similar to acrylic nails, but is laid over a foil form so that you can get extra length, especially if your natural nails are short and don’t grow out very well.

UPD:

Sculptured nails offer a durable and customizable option for those looking to add both length and strength to their nails. Whether your preference is squared, stiletto, or rounded, the foil form allows for intricate shaping. Despite their resilience, remember that they require maintenance through fill-ins every two to three weeks. Perfect for special occasions or consistent nail enthusiasts, sculptured nails can make a bold statement. Just be mindful of the commitment they entail and the need to visit a professional for proper application and upkeep.

Porcelain Nails

finger, arm, fashion accessory, hand, leg, These nails, much like other types of false nails, are a mixture of powder and liquid that is formed over your natural nail. However, porcelain nails are the priciest kind of false nails and they are also very delicate and break easily (as you can imagine). They aren’t for ladies who are super active.

Don't wear false nails never have never will!

I'm a nail designer and I love nails. For my personal use, I only use the glue on nails and designed them myself. Acyclic breaks your real nails down and make them weak. This is why I choose not to wear them.

I usually get a 2 weeks wear with the glue on nails. But I hate wearing a mani for 2 weeks. I change my nails every week. 😊
