Print

Print Ranging from animal print to newsprint nails, this trend has stolen the number one spot on the top 10 nail design trends 2013 edition! You can either buy appliqués or work free hand. You can also paint the majority of your nails a solid color and decorate just one nail with the print pattern -- that's all the rage right now (as pictured above!).

2

Geometric Shapes

I've seen so many different types of designs in this category, from hearts, to squares and triangles! The trick to this trend is tape! Use tape to create a nice crisp edge when creating the shape you want.

3

Studs & Rhinestones

Nails featuring these elements are usually on the tips of the nails or the very bottom, near your cuticle. It adds a little bit of sparkle to your outfit. I have also fallen in love with using these elements only on one nail. This way, you don't have to worry about making sure that all of your nails look uniform. (I'm terrible at using my left hand, so trying to make my nails look exactly the same on both hands is such a struggle!)

4

Fun Floral

Fun Floral I totally recommend using nail appliqués for this. No matter how artistic you may be, creating those teensy tiny flowers is both tedious and frustrating! Nail stickers are perfect for this trend (and many others!). There are plenty of varieties to pick from and they can be easily purchased from your local beauty store.

5

Caviar

I haven't tried this trend, but it seems to be incredibly popular. This design looks like tiny, little sparkly beads. They come in multiple colors and shimmers, so this look is perfect for when you are going to the club or a formal event where you need to be more dressed up.

Men in general judge more from appearances than from reality. All men have eyes, but few have the gift of penetration.

Cute Creatures

Cute Creatures I'm accustomed to seeing adorable creatures on shirts and jackets, but now I'm seeing them on nails! I’ve seen sheep, penguins, you name it. They are just so darn cute that I had to include them on my list. I don't have a steady hand, so making these kinds of designs is difficult for me, but if you've got the time and the talent, there are plenty of tutorials out there to help you achieve this look!

7

Delicious Desserts

Similar to number 6 on my nail trend list, decorating your nails with delicious desserts requires talent and a steady hand. I would never attempt this freehand, but if I come across cupcake nail appliqués, I'm purchasing them, no questions asked!

8

Reverse French Manicure

Even though I prefer a regular french manicure, this technique has really caught on. You are no longer painting the tips of your nails; instead you are using that different color on the bottom of your nails, near your cuticle. Sounds a bit strange, right?

9

Glitter

Glitter I love glitter! The trend with glitter this year is putting it on the tips or bottoms of your nails for a splash of sparkle or painting one nail with glitter and leaving the rest of your nails a solid color. This trend is so versatile; it's all up to you and how you prefer to wear it!

Marble & Dip Dyed

These trends are fairly new. Both of them give off a tie dye look. Dip dye is similar to ombré, whereas marble nails give off a swirl-like effect. Both are easy looks to achieve but do take some time.

In my opinion, nail art is the perfect way to showcase your personality. Do you have a signature nail style? Did your favorite trend make the list? What trend(s) do you love the most? Do share! I'd love to hear from you!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

I love to do an accent nail. All my nails pink and then one in orange. One of my new favorites is to use a bright base color and then use black or white crackle on the the tips for a twist on the traditional French tip.

I'm wearing #9 with the same colors drinking the same coffee O.o

YouTube has tons of marbeling vids. Mine worked awesome the first time! The reverse mani - are you talking about doing the moons of you nails?
