7 Fun Nail Patterns for Summer ...

By Eliza

Fun nail patterns are the “it” trend right now, which makes it super fun to try out new and exciting ones all the time. I don’t have tons of time to devote to nail art, but when I can carve out the time, it’s fun to try something that will get people talking or that makes me smile when I see it. If you want some new fun nail patterns, you’ve come to the right place. I have some fun new ideas to make the rest of your summer something to remember.

Sparklers

Sparklers Remember how much fun it was to light a handful of sparklers as a kid? You can recreate that feeling by painting sparklers on your fingernails, which happens to be one of my favorite fun nail patterns. What a fun way to ramp up a party or backyard barbecue. Start with a light colored base coat. Then apply a large drop of a darker color to the center of your nail. Use a straight pin or toothpick to drag lines of the polish out to the edges of your nails. Red, white and blue is an especially fun color palette for this pattern.

2

Polka Dots

Polka Dots Polka dots make me happy, so this is one of my go-to choices when I do nail art. I like to start with one color, then make several polka dots in a variety of colors on each nail. You can make them all look the same or make each nail a little different. You can make perfect polka dots by holding the nail polish brush a little bit above your nail and letting just a drop fall onto your nail. Seal the polka dots with a clear top coat.

Animal Print

Animal Print I don’t think animal prints ever go out of style. If you want to try the style without going overboard, try adding animal print to your manicure. Try leopard spots, giraffe print or zebra stripes. My best advice for this pattern is to find an example to guide you when you apply the polish. Try funky colors to make it even more fun.

4

Chevron Stripes

Chevron Stripes I’ve been seeing chevron all over the place, from clothes to home décor. If you love it as much as I do, your nails are a great place to show it off. Start with one color and use a small paintbrush to apply the zigzag stripes from side to side. You can start with a light base and add dark chevron or shake things up by applying a dark colored base coat and then painting on light colored stripes. Either way, you’re going to love the way it looks.

5

Ombre

Ombre Ombre isn’t just for hairstyles. It also looks great on your finger or toenails. Start by painting your nails a light color. Then gradually add darker colors as you move toward the tips for your nail. Gently blend the colors so you don’t have such harsh lines between the colors. Top with a clear coat to keep your ombre manicure intact.

Flowers

Flowers Nothing says summer like floral prints. If you agree, this is the pattern for you. Start with a neutral base coat. Then, using a small paintbrush or toothpick, create a circle of five of six dots to make the petals of the flower. Add a dot of a different color to the inside of the circle to complete the flower. Make one large flower on each nail or a couple of small ones.

7

Tie Dye

Tie Dye Tie dye is back in a big way. I can’t bring myself to wear anything too over the top, but I love to tie dye my nail polish. It’s looks awesome and it’s super easy to do. Start by painting your nails white. Then apply drops of several different colors to your nail. Use the end of a toothpick to swirl the colors together and create that famed tie dye look. This pattern looks really cool with neon colors.

What’s your favorite nail art pattern? Do you always do nail art or just for special occasions? I love to check out what other women are wearing on their nails so I hope this list inspires you to create some eye candy for those around you.

Very cute for the teens out there. It's fun to express yourself with nail polish. I'm too old for these styles but that doesn't stop me from liking them. I'll pass them along to the young gals in my life!
